Abstract:

BizTalk is an extremely powerful middleware integration product.  It servers the 80-20 rule very nicely as the majority of integration scenarios can be handled using the features the product provides out of the box.  However, occasionally unique integration scenarios require custom solutions.  Fortunately BizTalk provides strategic extensibility points that developers can use to achieve most any result.

In this presentation, Rod da Silva will survey the 4 key BizTalk extensibility points:

  • Custom Adapters
  • Custom Pipeline Components
  • Custom Mapping Functoids
  • Custom BizTalk Schema Editor Extensions
Rod leaves the familiarity of the BizTalk visual design editors behind, turning his attention to classic C# class libraries and BizTalk SDK APIs, in an effort to show you first hand what's involved in extending BizTalk Server in interesting and powerful ways.  Rod will explain what each of these extensibility points do, when they are needed, and how to construct and register each kind.  You will leave this presentation with a better understanding of the true capabilities of BizTalk Server.
